Cala Varques
Cala Varques, without a doubt is one of the most unspoilt beaches on the entire island. For many years Cala Varques has been known as one of the most popular destinations for hippies in Mallorca, due to its location and surroundings. The beach, surrounded by a pine forest, has more than 100m of fine white powdery sand which stuns all of its visitors. Also, at Cala Varques is one of Europes largest cave openings, although at first glance you wouldn’t be able to spot them. Accessing the beach is a little complicated, you must park your car near to the entrance of the trail and from there it’s a 15 minute walk. But be careful there’s parking restrictions!
Caló des Moro
Much like Cala Varques, to access Caló des Moro, there is a 15 minute walk. This unspoilt beach in Santanyí is wedged between two large rocks and its crystal clear waters resemble a swimming pool. Up until a few years ago it was one of the islands best kept secrets, but it has become very popular through word of mouth. It’s made up of around 40 metres of sand, so it’s not very large. Due to its size and its popularity, in July and August it can be packed, so we would say that if you want to enjoy this beach you’ll need to get up early.
Cala Mondragó
Cala Mondragó is located within a natural park, 7 kilometres south east of Santanyí, and less than twenty minutes from Portopetro. The cove is in a small bay surrounded by rocks and pine trees, which, add to its natural surroundings, all of these things make it a very unique place on the island. If you follow the shoreline you can access S’Amador and Es Borguit, two bays which are close by and equally as spectacular. Unlike the two other beaches, accessing Cala Mondragó is very easy. The best way to end a trip to this natural park is to dine at our restaurant in Portopetro and savour one of our excellent cocktails in the best atmosphere in the area.
Es Trenc
Es Trenc for many is the most beautiful beach in Mallorca. It goes on for around 3 kilometres and the entire surrounding area has been declared a protected natural site, meaning that you cannot build on it. On the outskirts of the beach you will find the last large sandbank of its kind on the island, so as well as enjoying this marvellous beach, you can also take a stroll through this natural wonder. An element which characterises this beach is its crystal clear water, with it also being only a few metres deep it is also a perfect place to play.
Cala Sa Nau
Cala Sa Nau is a cove with white sand, rocks and stones which is located close by to Portocolom. Its sea bed has transformed it in to an ideal place for scuba diving. It’s easily accessible by road and you can park your car in a free carpark half a kilometre away. This beach has a young atmosphere thanks to the Beach bar Cala Sa Nau, where you will find everything from evening meals to delicious cocktails, it’s an excellent place to have a drink before heading to Na Petra, our restaurant in Portopetro, which is located only a 15 minute car journey away.
